The Bug O Nay Ge Shig Seasonal Activities class spent a few hours gathering swamp tea near the school. After it is dried and bagged, it will be given to community elders.

Bug O Nay Ge Shig High School students braved cool, windy weather to commemorate the anniversary of the Battle of Sugar Point by visiting the battle site.
The Battle of Sugar Point took place during the first week of Oct. 1898 and is known as the last battle between a band of Indians and the U.S. Army. It involved the Bear Island Pillagers (Leech Lakers) and an elder named Bugonaygeshig (not the same as the two Bugonaygeshigs who were leaders of the Gull Lake Band). The Bear Island Pillagers were victorious in spite of being greatly outmanned and outgunned.

The Bug O Nay Ge Shig Lady Silver Eagles tasted victory in their final home game against Hill City with scores of 25-11, 16-25, 25-15, and 25-19. Congratulations!
