Family Fun Day Update: Events start at 11am! The folks who were going to do the horse drawn sleigh experienced a vehicle accident that makes their trailer unavailable. Unfortunately, they will not be able to join us for Family Fun Day today, but they will make a visit in January! Our fun and games start at 11am today, so come and join us!

Bug O Nay Ge Shig Families -
Our region is forecasted to get snow early in the morning and all through the day tomorrow, December 19th. Because of the hazardous road conditions this will create, the school will be doing an E Learning Day. Students were prepared for this possibility today. We hope everyone stays warm and stays safe, and we look forward to seeing many of you on Friday, December 20th for our Family Fun Day! Miigwech!

Monday, December 16th: Due to illnesses and family emergencies, our transportation department is significantly short staffed today and combined with deteriorating road conditions throughout our region, the Bugonaygeshig School will closed on Monday, December 16th. We will reopen on Tuesday, December 17th. Many of our roads are wet and turning to ice, so if you have to travel please do so safely. Miigwech.

The Bug O Nay Ge Shig School will be back in session on Thursday, December 12th! The wind chill will not be as bad as today, and we won't have new snow blowing across the roads in our western region. We look forward to seeing our students and having a good day at school! Just so families are aware, our threshold for opening late is air temperature in excess of -20, and wind chill in excess of -30. As of now, forecasts are above those lines, so let's dress warm and have a good day!

Boozhoo Bugonaygeshig Families & Staff,
First, we apologize for the lateness of this announcement. We had hoped to have school in person on Wednesday, but conditions have been shifting, and we ended up with lots of unpredicted wind driven snow on the west side of our region and frigid temps predicted for our whole region. With that, we have decided tomorrow will be an E Learning Day for our students. Students were prepped today for this possibility, and teachers will be available throughout the day on Wednesday to help students with their work.
Our E Learning plan is available at bugonaygeshig.com. We are choosing to make safety the top priority for tomorrow, and that means keeping students out of the elements. Again, the Bugonaygeshig building will be closed on Wednesday, December 11, and we will be E Learning for the day. Miigwech.

Bugonaygeshig Inclement Weather/Emergency Learning Plan 2024-25
(E-Learning Days)
Minnesota school districts are able to declare five “E-Learning Days” during the school year when they are able to close the school facility due to special circumstances, but continue to offer a school day by having students check in with staff and complete school work.
The Bugonaygeshig School District has a wide ranging geographic area where many of our families do not have access to the internet. Because of this, we will be providing students with both online work as well as paper copies of assignments. Additionally, we will structure our communication so that students can connect with teachers online or over the phone to get the support they need to complete their work. It is important that all students, regardless of geographic location and access to the internet, have equal access to learning materials and teacher support.
The Bugonaygeshig School District will use E-Learning Days in scenarios where an unplanned school closure is predictable, such as when a weather forecast allows a school to make a decision about a closure the day prior to that closure. E-Learning Days will not be used when the school has to make a sudden decision to close, such as a closure that gets announced early in the morning hours.
Student Directions
Student work will be posted online and printed as a packet of assignments. Students need to complete that school work and bring it back to school the next day.
If a student needs help, they can access their teacher by email or phone. Teachers will provide a schedule of available times throughout the day and contact information for their students.
Students will be counted as attending school by either completing the work that was assigned, making phone or online contact with their teacher, or both.
Staff Directions
Staff will be available between the hours of 8:15AM and 3:20PM.
Teachers will provide students with contact information where they can be reached on an E-Learning Day, even though they may not be expected to be in the building.
Teachers are expected to be available during their contracted hours, and teachers should check their email first thing in the morning for additional information from administration.
Teachers will provide students with hard copies of learning materials prior to an E Learning Day, as well as posting those materials online for students to access.
Teachers will mark attendance based on work completion and/or communication with students.
